God created us with many different personalities. I’m grateful that we’re not all the same, but sometimes, being different makes it difficult to communicate.

What people hear when I speak isn’t always what I intended to say. And likewise, sometimes what I hear others say isn’t what they meant.

One week, I had to deal with unfortunate circumstances caused by miscommunication. At least that time, I wasn’t the one who miscommunicated, but I did get caught in the crossfire, so to speak.

Let me be clear at this point that neither of these situations was dire or significant. They were just nominal things.

Even so, my first reaction was to get upset and want to defend myself.

I wanted to declare how it wasn’t my fault and make sure no one thought ill of me.

Yet God impressed upon my heart to let it go.

He knows the truth. He knows what happened. And He knows my heart is innocent of wrongdoing (in these cases).

And I should rest in that.

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10 ESV

be still and know, trust god, wendy addison, god moments

I don’t need to defend myself – God is my defender.

And He’s your defender, as well.

Hanging on to things we’re meant to let go of only hurts us and hinders us from living in the current moment with God. It doesn’t matter what others think of us. It only matters that we’re living to please God.

Is there something you need to let go of today?

Trust Him. Rest in Him.

Be still.
