It was such a tragedy when my beloved computer died.
No warning. Just crash. Complete darkness.
Thankfully, I had almost everything backed up. However, circumstances required me to order a new one online and wait two weeks for a computer.
Wow—what an eye-opener! I knew I was dependent on my computer for things, but I didn’t realize how dependent I was.
I could still use my phone to check emails and messages, but writing, newsletters, bookkeeping, and other work were out.
It felt a bit like the Dark Ages. LOL.
On the other hand, I did a lot of reading and sorting through closets.
But the experience got me thinking.
What if I misplaced my Bible for two weeks? What if my Bible app crashed?
Would I feel as lost? Would I feel as panicky and out of sorts?
During my computer blackout, I spent more time than usual in the Word, which made me hungrier for more of Him.
May we all feel the need for God and reading His Word, as much as we feel the need for our computers.
And yes, I realize I use my computer for work, and I have things that need to be done, but shouldn’t God be first and foremost in ALL things?
So, how about a little challenge?
For the next week, pick up your Bible and read for ten minutes every day. Just read. Ask God for clarity. Ask Him to draw you near.
Nothing is more fulfilling than God.
James 4:8 (NKJV) Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
